The Department of Personalized Learning and Chicago Public Schools is proud to release the CPS Personalized Learning Framework designed to unite and strengthen the implementation of PL practices across Chicago. Through more than five years of implementation, over 120 partner schools, and the invaluable experience of implementing teachers we have gained a deep understanding of what personalized learning looks like in Chicago. Based on these learnings, we set out to define PL best practices and provide a language of communication to share knowledge within and between educators and schools.
The Framework is composed of four domains: Learner Agency, Social Emotional Learning, Tailored Learning, and Authentic Learning. Each domain contains various components and accompanying sub-indicators to help educators and schools understand what practices align to each domain and what they look like when implemented. Finally, a continuum of practices provides a tool to understand where classrooms and schools are at in their journey to achieve deeply personalized and meaningful learning experiences.
